This weekend is yet to be determined, but I have high hopes it will be a great one.

1. This weekend we’re supposed to go to Atlanta for a little R&R. Well, originally, we were supposed to go to Hilton Head yesterday, but Film School always wins and so that plan was nixed (hee haw). Somehow the thought of driving six hours there and six hours back doesn’t seem so relaxing anymore. I am going to see if maybe we can hold off on Atlanta and do go somewhere else. Involving a beach. And adult beverages. A girl can dream, right?

2. I’ve been reusing the same Perrier bottle to drink water at work. It looks like I’m carrying around a wine bottle and drinking from it at meetings. I should just get a Tervis Tumbler. I wanted a Nebraska one, but I hate hate hate the N they use. Now I’m considering a monogrammed one. I also sort of wish I had taken my maiden name as my middle name, but I didn’t. That’s another story.

3. Aaron has been home from set for two days. We went to the wrap party last night and it was confirmed that the boy needs a haircut like whoa. I still find him dashing, though.

4. I want to paint my toe nails like this:

5. Is it true that AT&T is jamming the signal for all iPhone 3/3G users in preparation for the new OS coming out this summer? Because my old phone is going sloooow.

6. Aaron has all next week off!

7. My sister is running a half marathon this weekend! She’s so cool. I wish I could be like her.

8. How delicious does this look? It’s my culinary project for this weekend. Aaron loves key lime pie like it’s no one’s business, and I think I’ll surprise him with these.

9. I adore Duchess Catherine(!)’s dress. So lovely, classic, and sophisticated.

9.5. I am hoping my favorite-ever girl’s name doesn’t explode in popularity, though I think it will on account of the Royal Wedding, or at least the diminutive of the name.

Have a good weekend, people!

Swooning over this kitchen

Please go to the Urban Grace Interiors blog and feast your eyes on Erika’s kitchen.

Can I get an amen?
After you look, please come back here and tell me what you loved about it the most. To me, everything about this space is perfection, from the pine table to the cabinet paint to the red “E” in the pantry.
I feel like this space tells a story worth listening to.

I took a quiz once about my “home decorating” type because 1. I like quizzes 2. I feel clueless when it comes to decorating my home. The results of the quiz said my love for home begins in the kitchen. This totally clicked with me. In our apartment I have struggled with that room because there’s nothing I can do to make it any better, though it remains the heart of our home. I think that’s why I gravitate to kitchens and specifically kitchens like this one.

What’s your favorite room in your house?

Project: Painting the kitchen cart

One of my goals for the month was to paint the kitchen cart, and I finally did it. Here is what the cart looked like before. Our kitchen has very little storage, and last spring we bought this cart to give us room to put the pots and pans we got from one of my bridal showers. We got the cart from Ikea.
The before:

I had several thoughts about what color I should paint the cart. I absolutely love the map hanging above it, and I thought about matching the reds. When I got to the store, though, I saw a blue color from Martha Stewart’s line that looked so fun and fresh, and I went with my instinct and purchased a sample size.

I was able to cover the entire surface at least once with the sample size. I got two coats in some places, but I think I’m going to need to buy another sample to get the best coverage.

And the after:

So bright! I am usually timid with my color choices, and I am glad I chose something a little out of my comfort zone, because this really isn’t too out there.

Yea! What do you think?

Film School Graduation Invitation Ideas

I’m on the hunt for a fun way to tell our friends and family about Aaron’s impending graduation from Film School. He has worked so hard for this master’s degree, and I’d love to do something fun to invite our friends and family out for a night to celebrate him and this accomplishment. I saw these fantastic party invitations from Today’s Letters and feel inspired to do something movie-related for Aaron’s big day.

Em’s husband, Tim, is graduating from PA school, so she decided to use pill bottles as invitations. How fantastic! Check out the rest of the invitation suite at Today’s Letters.

So now I’m brainstorming something film-related. Good thing I have until late July to figure this out! Thanks, Em, for letting me share your project!

Little Brown Pen

I love Little Brown Pen’s Paris in Color collections. I won a gift certificate to the shop, and I am trying to decide whether to get the Paris in Mint or Paris in Blue collection. I think they would look so nice in square white frames with white matting. Which would you choose? Psst- if you purchase a collection through May 1 you can save 20 percent. There is a code to enter on the Little Brown Pen blog.
